Vimeo Video School

This collection of written tutorials and explanatory videos is a great resource for the beginner, with short videos covering everything from the very basics to more advanced subjects like how to use Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere.

These tutorials sometimes refer to professional-level equipment, but you can achieve many of the same results by substituting everyday things. For example, instead of using a "bounce," you can use a piece of white pasteboard. Instead of a light kit, you can use strategically-placed lamps.
